Create NSW is supporting organisations through the Regenerate Regional Event Initiative to commission the development of arts and cultural events featuring local artists with a particular focus on music and performance. It is only open to arts and cultural organisations based in regional NSW. Regional organisations in areas affected by the recent bushfires are encouraged to apply.
Regional organisations can apply for up to $10,000 to support an event for the community to take place after public health orders relating to social distancing and travel restrictions have been lifted.
It responds to the difficulties experienced by regional arts organisations doubly effected by bushfire and COVID-19 and seeks to offer employment to artists and encouragement to create work for their communities for future presentation.
The Regenerate Regional Event Initiative can support organisations to produce and present the following (non-exhaustive) range of events:
- A contemporary, folk or classical music or event
- A multi-artform event featuring live performance and music
- A concert series
- A series of live performances
With the Athenium Theatre going to be closed for a number of months to facilitate the building of the new kitchen and to install the much anticipated HVAC system, this funding opportunity could perhaps be utilised by the Community Halls to host a series of concerts or live performances. Perhaps organisations like Illabo Melodrama could consider touring the various hall
The Regenerate Regional Event Initiative is intended to support the development of an event while both organisation and artists/groups are in lockdown – with a view towards presentation and celebration when public health orders are lifted.
It is anticipated that the majority of event development will be undertaken by the host/commissioning/presenting organisation while in isolation.
Projects may start as soon as you are notified of the outcomes of your application.
