The Project Grants will fund up to $30,000 for high-quality arts projects benefitting regional or remote artists, arts workers, audiences and communities. The focus of the project could include any area of creative practice, multiple artforms or cross-disciplinary practice.
NOTE: There have been some changes to this round of the RAF program, so please take time to read the guidelines before applying.
Applications will be assessed against five criteria:
- Impact – Encourage and support sustainable economic, social and cultural outcomes in regional communities
- Support and Partnerships – Develop partnerships and networks which leverage financial and/or in−kind support for regional arts projects and encourage ongoing collaboration
- Reach – Develop audiences and broaden community engagement with the arts
- Opportunity – Increase employment and professional development opportunities for, and raise the profile of, regional and remote artists
- Quality & Viability – Support quality and viability of artistic and cultural activity
The maximum amount you can apply for is $30,000, but you must discuss with the RANSW Grants Manager if you are applying for amounts over $20,000. You can also apply for a multi-year grant for a maximum of two years to support the development and delivery of a single project across financial years with a maximum of $30,000 per year. Again, please discuss with our grants manager before applying.

NOTE: An eligible entity may auspice applications for ineligible organisations (for example unincorporated groups). The RAF Guidelines require applications from individuals under the age of 18 to only be auspiced by individuals over the age of 18 with an ABN. It is not possible for eligible entities to auspice an individual.

Tirkandi Inaburra Cultural and Development Centre Inc.
Cultural Murals
Year: 2021
Region: South West
Funding: Y1: $12,975.00 and Y2: $12,975.00
Tirkandi Inaburra participants will have the opportunity to work alongside artist Kerri Weymouth, to design two culturally themed murals to be painted onto Tirkandi buildings. Tirkandi Inaburra participants will work with Kerri to develop ideas for the murals that would carry cultural themes significant to the local land, area and community. The participants will be involved from start to finish, learning how to prepare surfaces for painting, types of paints to use, designs that are suitable for outdoor display and finishing processes. Once completed, these designs will be showcased to the community through an unveiling ceremony and via social media.

Carnival of the Animals – Remixed

Region: Mid North Coast
Funding: $16,500.00
Saint-Saens’s joyous masterpiece – Carnival of the Animals – will be presented as a multi-artform theatre production for all ages. To be toured throughout Mid North Coast, North Western NSW, New England & Northern River regions. A production to encourage communities, especially young people, back into their regional theatres, post bush fires and COVID-19.
Sunset Strip Progress Association Inc.
Art on the Boulevard

Region: West Darling
Funding: $22,100.00
Sunset Strip is an Outback NSW village doing it tough. Adversities are causing great hardship with a drought into its fourth year, dust storms, horrific fish kills and the closure of the seedless grape industry. Art on the Boulevard will engage a drought impacted artist-in-residence to work with community members and the Menindee Land Council to develop and create fifteen public art works. The project will contribute to the Sunset Strip Progress Association’s Disaster Recovery Strategy to rebuild the population base, sell vacant housing, creating a vibrant place for people to want to live, work and play.
Eastern Riverina Arts
OLD: NEW
Year: 2020
Region: Eastern Riverina
Funding: Y1: $25,000.00 and Y2: $12,700.00
Eight artists, eight museums, eight old objects, eight new artworks.
OLD:NEW is a curated museum exhibition featuring contemporary artworks created in response to the significant, the strange and the much loved items held in the Riverina museums’ collections. The exhibition pairs an artist with a museum to create a new artwork to be exhibited alongside the museum objects in the Museum of the Riverina before touring throughout the region.
South West Arts Inc
South West Youth Community Radio Station

This project provides a supported environment that puts young people at the centre of learning, decision-making and leadership. At its core, is the establishment of the first (National) Youth Community Radio Station in Deniliquin New South Wales. This project will provide young people with practical skills and the capacity and knowledge to self-manage not only the radio enterprise, but to support their creative career pathways.
The Cad Factory
Heartline

Region: Western Riverina

Heartline is a new theatre production exploring suicide and grief by local, national and international artists and partners, employing contemporary arts practice and community led engagement to develop a delicate exploration of the complexity of issues that impact life in regional New South Wales. By partnering with local community members, service providers, mental health professionals, universities and artists, The Cad Factory will undertake gentle artistic processes that lead us to a professional artistic outcome to be shared locally and internationally.
Far South Film
Far South Film Festival – Workshop Program 2020

Far South Film Festival is a new one-day showcase for regional content from all over Australia, hosted at the Picture Show Man Cinema in Merimbula, New South Wales, Sunday 23 August 2020. The Professional and Open Workshops will be held in the lead up to the Festival Day and will give both professional and emerging regional practitioners the opportunity to learn new skills, further develop existing skills and encourage regional creators/artists to submit work to the Festival.
Outback Theatre for Young People
Creative Culture at Tirkandi Inaburra

Outback Theatre for Young People will work alongside Tirkandi Inaburra Cultural and Development Centre (an Aboriginal community run residential facility offering Aboriginal boys aged 12-15 a culturally-based program, located outside of Coleambally), and local artists from a variety of disciplines from the Murray/Riverina region to provide a sustainable creative engagement program that promotes identity, self-confidence, resilience and cultural pride.
Four Winds
Lady Jane – Bermagui Tales
Year: 2019
Region: South East NSW
Funding: $20,000.00
This project takes its inspiration from ‘Lady Jane’, a 100-year-old wooden Bermagui fishing boat. The local community, in partnership with the Bermagui Historical society, will contribute/collect stories about Bermagui’s long heritage as a fishing port, and the role vessels like ‘Lady Jane’ played in the economic and social wellbeing of this town. Four Winds will engage Sam Thomas, a musician, choreographer and community artist who, with local artists, will lead the development of the community’s creative response to the stories collected. A community performance with ‘Lady Jane’ as the back-drop will be the culmination of this project.
Pambula Wetlands and Heritage Project Inc.
Ephemeral

Funding: $11,700.00
Pambula Wetlands and Heritage Project Inc. and Lonely Arts Club Pambula will collaborate to present Ephemeral, a one-day festival celebrating the ephemeral landscape of Panboola and the creativity it inspires. This vibrant program of art, musicians, creative workshops, demonstrations, market and food stalls will be held on Saturday 13th April 2019. The festival will include site-specific art installations by local artists; four workshops in woodcarving, printmaking, screen- printing and textile craft; a masterclass for ephemeral art; a youth literature workshop; a storytelling circle for children; and performances by local musicians and music students.
Byron Harmony Day
Byron Harmony Day Festival

Region: Northern Rivers
Now in it’s twelfth year, Byron Harmony Festival will begin its evolution towards a vision of a new, larger festival; connecting with the wider North Coast and Northern Rivers Region of NSW under the rebrand of ‘Colours of the World Festival’. The festival will celebrate cultural diversity from the region, with music, dance, multi-media, food and crafts and coincide with Harmony Day celebrations around Australia. The Small Festivals Support funding will allow for the employment of a Coordinator who will facilitate the festival’s new vision.
Kari-Lachlan River Arts Festival
Kari-Lachlan River Arts Festival Program Coordinator

Funding: Y1: $10,000.00 and Y2: $10,000.00
The Small Festivals Support funding will allow for the employment of a Program Coordinator for the River Arts Festival Main Event on 25 May, 2019. The Coordinator, Rob Shannon, will be engaged from early 2019 for the months leading up to the event, and will be responsible for all community collaboration, stage management and the presentation of the festival finale to be held on Saturday 25 May, 2019.
