Junee Shire receives nearly $775,000 for community projects

Successful Grants

Under Round 3 of the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund, six community projects in Junee Shire will receive full funding, including;

  • $241,300 to enhance the Junee Skate Park – to provide a more appealing facility for the community’s youth and encourage more user groups.
  • $150,417 to construct a multipurpose tennis court and an additional cricket pitch within the Eurongilly District hall grounds, including new fencing and lighting.
  • $139,756 for Junee Youth Employment Partnership Program – a partnership between local business, education and local government stakeholders to support young people to be work ready.
  • $98,071 for Junee Golf Club’s junior golf program – building a steel shed to provide a place for families and junior members to congregate.
  • $80,000 for Junee Lions Club for their Lions Papershed revitalisation project – extending the disabled toilet, new kitchen cupboards and cabinets, gyprock the room, heating, cooling and security.
  • $65,000 for Illabo Showground to upgrade their pavilion building, including a new kitchen, providing better usage for the facility.

Three of the projects (Illabo Showground Pavillion Upgrade; Lions Club Papershed Revitalisation; and the Junee Golf Club Junior Golf Program) had previously been submitted to the My Community Project funding opportunity in 2019. By having a “shovel-ready” project and a solid application already prepared, these projects were easy to update for submission to the Stronger Country Communities Fund.
