Four community organisations from Junee Shire were amongst the 18 recipients from the Riverina Electorate to receive funding from the Australian Government’s 2020 Volunteer Grants Activity Grants.

The Volunteer Grants aim to support the efforts of Australia’s volunteers as well as to encourage and increase participation in volunteering. The grants provide small amounts of money that organisations and community groups can use to help their volunteers.

Almost $15,000 was shared between the four organisations in Junee:

  • $4,950 Junee and District Historical Society
Upgrade to new, high quality scanner, allowing volunteers to record and digitally preserve their old photographs and paper documents.
  • $4,630 Rhythm n Rail
Purchase of safety equipment, including UHF transmitters (walkie-talkies)
  • $3,300 Dirnaseer Public Hall
Improvements to equipment at the hall to assist volunteers
  • $2,180 Rotary Club of Junee
Assist volunteers to continue to support the local community
