Tips for Successful Community Projects

Training Opportunities

Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR)
Is your community group or not-for-profit thinking of applying for a grant? Not sure where to start?

The Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR), in conjunction with Australia Post, have released a 13-part video series that will help you understand the grant seeking process. Local leaders who have previously secured grants share their insights about what makes a great project.

While these videos were created in a pre-COVID world, the insights and tips are just as relevant now — even though delivery of projects or ideas may have to change.

Topics covered include:

  1. Involve your community
  2. Gather your supporters
  3. Gather your team
  4. Collaborate for success
  5. Create a realistic plan
  6. Keep the community informed
  7. Follow your passion
  8. Finding and applying for grants
  9. Identify sources of diverse funding
  10. Set yourself up for financial success
  11. Understand the funding requirements
  12. Ways to evaluate success
  13. Share your results

Each segment is only a minute or so long, so it won’t take up much of your time — but we highly recommend anyone looking at applying for any grant, whether through FRRR or another funding body, watch these videos BEFORE commencing the application process!
