Woolworths Junior Landcare Grants (2023)

Grants

Junior Landcare and Woolworths Grants
Woolworths and Landcare Australia are inviting primary schools and early learning centres across the country to apply for a Woolworths Junior Landcare Grant. With 1,000 grants on offer, this is a fantastic opportunity to set up a new environmental project or enhance an existing one. Previous grant recipients are welcome to apply again if they have submitted a final report for their previous grant project.

The grants, of up to $1,000 each, inspire children from across the country to get hands-on with the natural environment through projects that focus on sustainable food production, improving waste management practices and recycling, enhancing native habitats and deepening connections to First Nations perspectives.

The following are eligible for funding via the Woolworths Junior Landcare Grants program:

There are lots of different forms that the ideal project can take, and we encourage children to be actively involved in the research and design process. The Top 10 Woolworths Junior Landcare Grant Project Ideas resource is a great place to start.

Also look at the past recipients and their projects for inspiration! In Round 4, two Junee Pre-Schools successfully received funding:

  • Junee Pre-School — Composting
The aim of our project is to implement a compost at the preschool. The children will be involved in setting up the compost and adding food waste to the compost each day, turning the bin once a week, and adding the compost to the garden beds when ready. The expected (environmental and educational) outcomes of the project include: The children can learn about the benefits of composting, and how these organic materials can be used to make our garden and plants healthier. The children can take this knowledge and interest to their families in the hope to make a positive impact on our community.

  • Junee Kids Early Learning — Bush Kinder Reserve
The aim of our project is to create a learning environment in which uses nature/land as the students primary teacher. The children will be involved in Developing, planting and sustaining a native bush kinder reserve for the community to utilise and encourage a sense of belonging and ownership for our families and community. The expected (environmental and educational) outcomes of the project include: A sustainable bush kinder environment that utilises robust flora local to the region. This will lay the foundation for future endeavours such as a stingless bee hive and community vegetable garden.
