Junee Reefs Hall
Organisation
Description

The historic Junee Reefs Ivor Hall was opened on March 24, 1926, on Crown Land with funds (£606) raised by the local community. The Hall sits in the middle of the Junee Reefs Community, which is prime farming land today, but in 1860’s it was a part of a gold mining area hosting over 3,000 people.

The hall has the old country charm of the original corrugated iron hall with timber floors. More recently, the refurbishment of the supper room, kitchen and amenities provide fully enclosed air conditioned spaces.

The Hall is located 23kms north of Junee, 38kms south of Temora, 49kms west of Cootamundra, and 57kms North of Wagga Wagga.

The hall is used to host community events including Anzac Ceremony, Christmas Dinner, Men’s BBQ Nights, and Exercise classes. Additionally, the hall is hired out for private functions including birthday parties, weddings, family reunions and farming forums.

Today the hall is still maintained by the volunteer community members.

The LVR is always welcoming any person with rail, trade or customer service skills (if you don't have any we are still happy to get you on board!)

Pete’s Hobby Railway
Description

Pete’s Hobby Railway is a small 2-ft (610mm) gauge railway located on private property at Junee in southern NSW (Australia). Locomotives, steam and diesel, formerly used in the cane field tramways of Queensland, have found a new home in Junee.

In order to help out in the promotion of Junee as the “1870s railway town”, Pete, with the assistance of his volunteers, has undertaken to demonstrate Pete’s Hobby Railway during various festivals and events held in Junee throughout the year, especially Rhythm n Rail.

Unfortunately, owing to the specific requirements of the Rail Safety National Law 2012 (NSW), Peter is NOT permitted to open Pete’s Hobby Railway for public inspection and/or rides.

However, visitors will be welcome to view and photograph Pete’s Hobby Railway, but from the street only – operating at times that may be advertised (such as during Junee’s Rhythm n Rail Festival). At other times, the railway, including the replica 1915 era country railway station, can still be viewed and photographed from the street, however locomotives and trains may not be visible.

Pete’s Hobby Railway is always on the look-out for volunteers to assist with the restoration and maintenance of the locomotives and rolling stock, maintenance and development of the track, and to help operate the railway on operational days.

Junee Roundhouse Aerial View
Description

Commonly known as the Roundhouse Museum

Regional Heritage Transport Asscociation - Junee Inc. is a volunteer organisation which operates a very popular museum at one of the most significant transport heritage sites in regional New South Wales.

Junee Roundhouse is a unique facility which embodies the optimism, hard work and the determination of generations of rail industry workers and leaders. It offers us the opportunity to show our visitors the transport modes and technologies of the past and the role which a regional centre played in maintaining the national transportation service.

With our partners, Junee Railway Workshop, we also offer a view of a vital element in current railway operations - a working locomotive depot.

We also house an impressive model railway and memorabilia of rail past.
